Dele Momodu, veteran journalist and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has said that only former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is adequately positioned to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Facebook, Momodu criticized the opposition’s lack of unity and strategy, insisting they are not prepared for the upcoming contest.
“I often wonder how some opposition presidential aspirants expect to defeat President Bola Tinubu in 2027—barely a year away—when they have yet to agree on a common strategy,” Momodu wrote.
He noted that running for the presidency is a complex endeavor that requires more than social media popularity. “Winning against a formidable competitor demands a massive war chest, extensive nationwide structures, religious balance, and broad ethnic support,” he said.
Momodu emphasized that, in his view, most opposition figures are either unprepared or indifferent to Tinubu’s continued rule, while Atiku remains the only aspirant pursuing his ambitions with practical and meticulous planning.
