Yul Edochie Questions Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ Agenda Amid Rising Insecurity, Hardship

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yul Edochie has publicly criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, questioning whether the administration’s promise of “renewed hope” is reflected in the current realities facing Nigerians.

In a strongly worded social media post, Edochie lamented the worsening insecurity, rampant kidnappings, and escalating economic hardship that he said are pushing citizens to the brink.

The actor wrote:
“Dear President Tinubu, bandits are gradually taking over the whole country, spilling the blood of Nigerians at will without consequences. Nigerians are being kidnapped in numbers daily. Things are so expensive, the suffering is unbearable for Nigerians. Is this the renewed hope you promised Nigerians?”

Edochie’s remarks capture widespread frustration across the country as many Nigerians struggle with rising prices, shrinking incomes, and growing fear for personal safety.

The actor — once a vocal supporter of Tinubu — is now urging the government to act decisively, stressing the widening gap between campaign promises and the lived experiences of ordinary Nigerians.

His post sparked immediate social media reactions. One user commented, “Finally someone is saying what we’re all thinking!” Another wrote, “This is the truth — Nigerians are suffering while leaders remain silent.”

Edochie’s criticism adds to the increasing pressure on the federal government to urgently confront insecurity and economic decline, with many Nigerians still waiting for the tangible improvements they expected under the “renewed hope” mandate.
