Bengaluru Airport Issues Advisory as IndiGo Cancels Flights Amid Ongoing Disruptions

Bengaluru, Dec 5, 2025 — Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru issued a passenger advisory on Friday after IndiGo cancelled several flights from the city to key destinations, including Delhi and Mumbai. The cancellations will remain in effect for the entire day until 11:59 pm, according to the advisory.

Passengers travelling to other destinations were urged to check their flight status with IndiGo directly before heading to the airport to avoid inconvenience. The airport added that its on-ground teams were actively coordinating with IndiGo and other operational partners to minimise disruption and assist affected passengers.

Stranded Passengers Highlight Impact

The advisory comes amid reports of stranded travelers. One such case involved Namita, who was travelling with her father’s mortal remains to Haridwar for an asthi visarjan ceremony. Her flight to Delhi was cancelled without prior notice, jeopardising her plans to reach Delhi and catch a connecting flight to Dehradun, the nearest airport to Haridwar, where the immersion of ashes in the Ganga was scheduled.

IndiGo’s Ongoing Operational Chaos

This disruption is part of a larger operational crisis for IndiGo, which has faced mass cancellations and delays over the past four days. Since Tuesday, more than 1,000 flights have been cancelled across India, causing widespread inconvenience for passengers at major airports. On Friday, IndiGo cancelled all departure flights from Delhi’s IGI Airport until midnight, further compounding the situation.

Regulatory Response

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was compelled to revise several norms, including pilot duty hours and leave policies, in response to the ongoing chaos. These adjustments come as part of broader efforts to stabilise operations and reduce cancellations, especially at India’s busiest airports where IndiGo dominates the market.

The Bengaluru airport’s advisory reflects the challenges faced by passengers trying to navigate the disruption, particularly those with connecting flights or urgent travel plans. The airport and airline continue to work together to provide updates and assistance to affected travelers, emphasising the importance of checking flight status before departure.

With IndiGo’s operational normalisation expected between December 10 and 15, passengers are advised to stay alert for updates and plan accordingly to minimise disruption to their travel schedules.
