Carl DIB Merchandising Limited, a leading importer of premium wines, spirits, and FMCG products, has officially launched Canadian wines into the Nigerian market, promising a new level of elegance and sophistication for wine enthusiasts across the country.
The launch, themed “Taste the elegance of Canadian winemaking,” was attended by distinguished guests, including Carlos Rojas-Abulu, Deputy High Commissioner of Canada to Nigeria, who emphasized the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. “Nigeria and Canada share deep-rooted values, growing trade relations, educational exchanges, and people-to-people connections,” he said.
Mr. Charles Onyedibe, Export Manager, West Africa for Carl DIB, explained that the move was inspired by the growing Nigerian community in Canada. “We want to ensure that Nigerians living in Canada can still enjoy their favourite wines when they visit or return home,” he said, noting that the market reception in existing locations has been highly encouraging.
Highlighting the growing opportunities for Nigerian businesses in collaboration with Canadian support, Onyedibe added that the company plans to expand its presence during the festive period, opening additional branches in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, and other cities.
A senior executive from Wema Bank, also present at the event, drew an interesting analogy between banking and winemaking. He emphasized that “patience, consistency, and dedication to quality” are crucial to both industries, reaffirming the bank’s commitment to empowering SMEs and providing tailored financial advisory services.
With this strategic launch, Carl DIB Merchandising Limited is not only broadening Nigeria’s wine offerings but also bridging international connections, bringing a taste of Canadian elegance to Nigerian consumers while strengthening cross-border business relations.
