“Prosecuting cases is crucial in the fight against corruption – ICPC”

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, has emphasized that prosecuting cases is the most crucial element in the fight against corruption.

Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja during his welcome address at a Capacity Building Workshop for Judges, Aliyu highlighted that both investigation and prosecution play key roles in the success of anti-corruption efforts.

He stressed that public perception is closely linked to the trial of corruption cases in courts and the recovery of illicit funds.

“The Commission’s mandate for investigation and prosecution is central to the anti-corruption battle, particularly the prosecution of cases in court, which forms a critical part of enforcement,” he stated. “This aspect of prosecuting cases is vital, as the public’s view is shaped by the trial process and the recovery of stolen funds.”

Aliyu also encouraged judges to adopt technology in case management, noting that global innovations in case management systems are enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of justice delivery in the fight against corruption.
