TikTok Temporarily Blocks Nighttime Live Streaming for Nigerian Users

TikTok has temporarily restricted access to its live-streaming feature during late-night hours for users in Nigeria.

The social media platform informed creators through an in-app notice, citing the move as part of an ongoing safety investigation.

At midnight Nigerian time on Sunday, affected users received a system notification titled “LIVE Notices” which read:

“TikTok LIVE Update in Nigeria: We’re temporarily limiting LIVE late at night in Nigeria as part of our investigation to ensure our platform remains safe and our community stays protected.”

Live sessions active earlier in the night became inaccessible between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., with affected accounts displaying a “No Access” label.

The restriction also blocked creators from viewing live broadcasts from other countries during the affected hours.

TikTok has yet to provide details on how long the temporary restriction will remain in effect.
