Fuji music superstar King Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM1 or K1 De Ultimate, has formally announced his intention to contest for the vacant Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland stool.
In a letter dated 3rd December to the chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, KWAM1 emphasized that he is a bonafide son of the ruling house, tracing his ancestry to the Oba Jadiara lineage, qualifying him under Ijebu customary law and Ogun State Chieftaincy Laws.
“I have devoted over five decades to promoting Ijebu, Yoruba, and Nigerian culture through music and cultural enterprise,” KWAM1 stated, highlighting his lifelong service to the community.
In a viral YouTube video, he affirmed his dual royal heritage from both paternal and maternal lines and referenced his installation as Olori Omo-Oba and Otunba Afidipotemole of Akile Ijebu in 2023 by the late Awujale Oba Sikiru Adetona as proof of his eligibility.
KWAM1 urged unity among all Ijebu princes, emphasizing that any contest for the stool should not lead to conflict. “We are all from royal lineage, and anyone who eventually emerges, we’ll work together for the development of Ijebuland,” he said.
He concluded by stating this would be his final public comment on the matter, calling for peace and collaboration among royal family members.
