Grammy-winning singer Tems has shared insights into the qualities she considers essential in a romantic relationship, highlighting friendliness and genuine curiosity as non-negotiable traits.

In a recent interview with Complex, Tems explained that she cannot date anyone who is unfriendly or shows little interest in their partner, describing the absence of these traits as red flags.

“My dating terms are that someone who is not trying to be your friend is a red flag. Anybody who isn’t curious about you is also a red flag. Because what are we doing? Why are we here if you don’t want to know me? If he or she doesn’t want to know more about you, end the relationship,” she said.

Identifying herself as a lover girl, Tems said she is prioritising self-love and taking a cautious approach to relationships based on past experiences. She emphasised that mutual curiosity and friendship are key components of a healthy partnership, advising people to walk away from relationships where these qualities are lacking.
