Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party, citing internal crises at the national level as his reason for leaving.
In a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area, Adeleke formally resigned from the party on November 4, 2025. He explained that his departure was due to ongoing conflicts within the party’s national leadership.
“Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect,” the letter read.
Adeleke acknowledged the role of the PDP in his political rise, expressing gratitude for the opportunities it afforded him in his elections as Senator representing Osun West and as Governor of Osun State.
On Tuesday evening, Adeleke publicly announced his new political platform under the Accord Party, confirming earlier reports from sources within the state about his impending move.
