SNL Cast Honors Their Moms for Mother's Day, Including Marcello Hernandez's Mom Isabel

Saturday Night Live celebrated Mother’s Day in a heartwarming tribute during the May 10, 2025, episode. Cast members Kenan Thompson, Bowen Yang, and Marcello Hernandez took a moment to honor their mothers in the Cold Open segment of the iconic late-night sketch comedy show.

During the heartfelt tribute, Thompson, 47, and Yang, 34, welcomed their moms onstage, and Hernandez was joined by his mother, Isabel Cancela, who is a dedicated PEOPLE fan. The trio shared a touching song, reflecting on the many sacrifices and love their moms have shown them throughout their lives.

As the cast celebrated the special women who raised them, Hernandez, 27, expressed his gratitude: “They’ve done so much for us, so, Mom, this is for you,” before the group broke into song about the countless ways their moms have supported them.

The emotional moment was humorously interrupted when SNL regular James Austin Johnson appeared on stage impersonating Donald Trump, kicking the group off the stage. The segment continued with a surprise cameo from Cecily Strong, who reprised her popular Jeanine Pirro parody just five weeks after giving birth to her first child.

The episode, which aired as part of SNL‘s milestone 50th season, brought back beloved sketches and celebrated the mothers behind the comedic stars. Season 50 of Saturday Night Live kicked off in September 2024 with Jean Smart as the host, and other memorable hosts included Ariana Grande, Michael Keaton, Chris Rock, and Jon Hamm, among others.

As SNL prepares for the grand finale of its milestone season, fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming episode with Scarlett Johansson hosting and Bad Bunny as the musical guest. SNL continues to bring exciting celebrity appearances, unforgettable moments, and musical performances, making it one of the most beloved late-night shows on television.
