Amaravati | December 10, 2025:
YSRCP chief Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will meet Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer on December 18 to submit one crore signatures collected statewide against the proposed privatisation of ten new government medical colleges in the state.
According to a party statement, Jagan will brief the Governor on “widespread public opposition” to the NDA coalition government’s move and formally hand over the signatures gathered through the YSRCP’s mass mobilisation campaign.
YSRCP’s Criticism of the Government
Senior YSRCP leader and former minister Botcha Satyanarayana sharply criticised the TDP-led NDA government, accusing Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of prioritising corporate interests under the guise of a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Key points from Satyanarayana’s remarks:
- The party collected one crore signatures opposing the proposal.
- The state is witnessing “unprecedented public anger” with lakhs joining the movement.
- No government in the past has transferred core public healthcare institutions to private entities.
- Privatisation would undermine affordability and accessibility for the poor.
He recalled that the YSRCP government (2019–2024) initiated 17 medical colleges, completed 7, and began admissions in 5, contrasting this with the current government’s alleged push to privatise 10 newly established colleges.
Satyanarayana also criticised the stagnation of AIIMS Mangalagiri, claiming the Centre allowed it to remain incomplete for nearly a decade.
Mass Signature Campaign
YSRCP has started distributing sealed signature boxes collected from each region to district presidents across constituencies, marking an important phase of the state-wide mobilisation.
Government Response
There was no immediate reaction from the TDP regarding the allegations or the signature campaign.
