DC Studios co-head and Superman (2025) director James Gunn has delivered an exciting update for fans eagerly awaiting the first official trailer for the highly anticipated Superman reboot. In a playful interaction on Threads, Gunn strongly hinted that the Superman 2025 trailer is complete and could be released very soon.
In response to a fan comment on a recent DC Studios Showcase Podcast episode featuring stars Anthony Carrigan and Sara Sampaio, Gunn used a combination of emojis to imply that he had “blinked twice” — a clever nod suggesting the trailer is ready for launch.
Although DC released a teaser for Superman in December 2024, Gunn has consistently emphasized that fans have yet to see the full first trailer. In an April 2025 Instagram comment, Gunn clarified, “You haven’t even seen trailer 1.0 yet – only a teaser and a sneak peek!” He added, “I can’t wait to show you guys the trailer!” (via ScreenRant).
As excitement builds, this forthcoming trailer will serve as the first true look at Superman (2025), marking the beginning of the new DC Universe (DCU) under Gunn and Peter Safran. The film will reboot the iconic superhero franchise with a fresh take on Clark Kent / Superman, played by David Corenswet, taking over the mantle from Henry Cavill, who last starred in 2013’s Man of Steel.
The Superman 2025 cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. The film is set for a theatrical release in the U.S. on July 11, 2025.
With the official Superman trailer now reportedly finalized, fans can expect a major promotional push in the coming weeks. As the first major film in the rebooted DCU, Superman (2025) carries the weight of launching a new era for DC Studios — and all eyes are on James Gunn to deliver
