NDOMA

In a strong show of political allegiance, former Senate Leader Victor Ndoma-Egba has publicly declared his support for Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. Speaking during a political gathering in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, Ndoma-Egba affirmed that the people of the state are resolute in their commitment to reelect both leaders based on what he described as their “unprecedented performance and people-oriented governance.”

The former senator, who represented Cross River Central in the National Assembly for three terms, praised Governor Otu’s developmental strides within the state, crediting him for bringing renewed hope and visible transformation to Cross River since assuming office in May 2023. Similarly, he lauded President Tinubu for taking bold and necessary steps to stabilize the economy and reposition Nigeria on a growth trajectory.

“We will vote Otu and Tinubu in 2027 without hesitation,” Ndoma-Egba said emphatically. “They have earned our trust, not through propaganda, but through visible results and their unwavering dedication to the Nigerian people.”

Commendation for Governor Bassey Otu

Ndoma-Egba commended Governor Otu’s policies in infrastructure, education, and rural development, stating that Cross River has seen significant progress under the current administration. He highlighted the governor’s inclusive governance style and his efforts to ensure peace and stability across the state.

“Governor Otu came into office with a clear vision, and in less than two years, the difference is already obvious,” the former Senate Leader remarked. “From the rehabilitation of critical road infrastructure to revitalizing the health and education sectors, the governor is delivering on his mandate.”

Ndoma-Egba also cited Governor Otu’s efforts in boosting the agricultural sector and job creation through various empowerment programs, which have particularly benefited the youth and women in rural communities.

Endorsement of President Tinubu

Turning to the federal level, Ndoma-Egba threw his weight behind President Tinubu, describing him as a courageous leader who inherited a challenging economy but is committed to long-term reforms. According to him, Tinubu’s administration has shown readiness to take the difficult but necessary steps to revive the nation’s economy and restore investor confidence.

“President Tinubu’s reform agenda may be painful in the short term, but it is setting the foundation for a more sustainable economic future,” he said. “Subsidy removal, foreign exchange reforms, and the renewed focus on infrastructure development are all part of a broader plan to unlock Nigeria’s true potential.”

He acknowledged the difficulties Nigerians are facing due to ongoing reforms but insisted that the president has the experience, capacity, and political will to steer the country through its current challenges.

Call for Unity and Patience

Senator Ndoma-Egba used the opportunity to call on Nigerians to remain patient and united in the face of ongoing economic and political transitions. He urged citizens not to be swayed by political propaganda or short-term discomfort but to keep faith in the leadership of both Governor Otu and President Tinubu.

“Nation-building is a marathon, not a sprint. We must stay the course and support our leaders who are making the right decisions, even if those decisions are not popular in the moment,” he stated.

He also appealed to political actors across the country to place national interest above personal ambition and work together to build a Nigeria that works for all.

Reaction from Party Supporters

The endorsement by Senator Ndoma-Egba has been met with enthusiasm from All Progressives Congress (APC) members and supporters in Cross River and beyond. Many described his statement as a reflection of the prevailing sentiment within the party and the broader political landscape of the South-South region.

Mrs. Stella Ekpenyong, a party chieftain in Calabar, echoed the senator’s position, saying, “We are proud of the work Governor Otu is doing in Cross River. His administration has brought hope back to the people, and we are ready to give him a second term.”

Similarly, Mr. Effiom Okon, a youth leader in Ikom, noted that the president’s policies are beginning to bear fruit, especially in the area of infrastructure and digital economy. “We believe in the Renewed Hope agenda. President Tinubu is building a strong foundation for the future,” he said.

Looking Ahead to 2027

As political activities gradually gain momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, endorsements such as this from influential political figures like Ndoma-Egba are expected to shape the discourse within the APC and the nation at large. His open declaration of support signals an early consolidation of forces behind incumbent leaders, particularly in states like Cross River where the APC continues to strengthen its base.

While critics may point to the economic hardship and political dissatisfaction in some quarters, Ndoma-Egba’s message underscores a belief in continuity, stability, and reform-driven leadership. It also highlights the strategic importance of Cross River in the 2027 electoral calculations, both at the state and federal levels.

As things stand, the political future of Nigeria continues to evolve, but voices like Senator Ndoma-Egba’s are setting the tone for what promises to be another critical chapter in the nation’s democratic journey.
