Influencer ‘Senator JP’ Alleges Brutal Attack by Nsukka LGA CSO Over Criticism of Chairman

Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, a social media influencer popularly known as Senator JP, has accused operatives of the Nsukka Local Government Area (LGA) neighbourhood watch of violently attacking him in broad daylight. He alleges that the group, led by the LGA’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), Chibuzor “Baby Rubber” Egbugo, targeted him for publicly criticising the council chairman, Engr. Jude Asogwa Chinedu.

In a detailed Facebook post on Sunday, Ugwuanyi said the incident occurred Saturday at Umeano Filling Station along the Beach Junction axis of Nsukka, Enugu State. He described being approached by a man who blocked his car door, shortly followed by six men surrounding his vehicle and identifying themselves as neighbourhood watch officials.

According to Ugwuanyi, Egbugo declared: “You have been attacking Engr Jude Asogwa Chinedu, and by attacking him, you are attacking all of us working for him.” He claims the men then began punching and stabbing him while armed with pump-action guns, forcing bystanders to flee. The attack was reportedly interrupted by an unidentified man who challenged the assailants to involve the police or the council chairman instead of resorting to mob violence.

Ugwuanyi identified some of the alleged attackers as Chibuzor Egbugo (CSO), Ejike Stephen Nwangwu (aka Gwadas), and Chizoba Ogbu (aka LUPENG), while other participants remain unidentified. He shared photographs of himself in hospital with bloodstained clothing, highlighting the severity of the assault.

The influencer also stated that days prior, he had warned on social media that certain individuals were allegedly “marked for attack,” claiming the same CSO would lead the assault. He called on the Nsukka LGA chairman to deny involvement or account for the assailants, saying: “If the chairman denies this or claims no knowledge, he should provide these #assassins and #killer squad working for him because they are under his payroll and openly brutalized me.”

As of filing this report, neither the Nsukka LGA chairman, the neighbourhood watch, nor the Enugu State Government have issued an official response to Ugwuanyi’s allegations.
