
At least nine people were injured on Monday following a violent confrontation between farmers and herders in Loko community, Nasarawa State.
The clash reportedly occurred around noon on December 15 in Bakono village, triggered by a dispute over alleged damage to farmland owned by a man identified as Bako Usman. The disagreement quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.
Sources confirmed that five farmers and four herders sustained injuries during the incident. The injured were promptly taken to Loko General Hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Security personnel were deployed to restore order, and a stakeholders’ meeting has been convened to resolve the conflict and prevent further escalation. Authorities are also conducting patrols to maintain confidence and monitor the situation, which is currently reported to be relatively calm.
