House Democrats have released dozens of new photographs and documents from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate, ahead of a Friday deadline for the Department of Justice (DOJ) to release a more comprehensive set of files related to the convicted sex offender. Epstein died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting sex-trafficking charges.
New Images Include High-Profile Figures
The latest trove, released Thursday by the House Oversight Committee, includes images of Epstein with public figures such as Noam Chomsky, Bill Gates, Woody Allen, and Steve Bannon. Other images show passports of unidentified women and disturbing visuals linked to Epstein’s criminal activities, including a photo of a deceased woman with writings on her body next to a copy of Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita.
A screenshot of a text message in the release suggests the recruitment of young women:
“I have a friend scout she sent me some girls today. But she asks 1000$ per girl. I will send u girls now. Maybe someone will be good for J?”
Other previously released materials showed former President Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak at Epstein’s properties. While Trump has acknowledged knowing Epstein, he denies involvement in Epstein’s sex trafficking network.
Calls for Transparency
House Democrats emphasized their goal of public transparency:
“It’s time for the Department of Justice to release the files,” the committee said.
The release follows the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which requires the DOJ to publish materials related to the investigation. The Justice Department has not yet confirmed whether it will meet the Friday deadline.
Public and Political Reactions
The release fuels continued speculation about the network of influential individuals around Epstein and their potential involvement. The circumstances of Epstein’s 2019 death, officially ruled a suicide, remain controversial and have heightened public interest in the DOJ’s disclosures.
