The Bauchi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BACCIMA) has called on the Federal Government to ensure that its proposed tax reforms are people-centred and do not create additional hardship for Nigerians.
Alhaji Aminu Mohammed Danmalikin Bauchi, President of BACCIMA, expressed concern that the planned tax regime, in its current form, lacks a human-focused approach and could negatively impact citizens, especially those in northern Nigeria.
Danmalikin said the chamber is prepared to engage with relevant authorities to safeguard public interests against any policy that may undermine livelihoods. “We will go to every length to ensure that the public is protected,” he emphasized, urging the government to review the reforms and incorporate stakeholder feedback.
He also highlighted BACCIMA’s ongoing commitment to economic development, referencing the recent economic and investment summit organised by the Bauchi State Government. The chamber aims to provide meaningful contributions to national economic policies while addressing internal challenges and seeking strategic partnerships.
Danmalikin noted that BACCIMA is strengthening collaboration with the state government to enhance cooperation between the public and private sectors, ensuring policies support sustainable development.
