Sabrina Carpenter Shares Her “Big Blonde Moment” During Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Mash-Up: Why the Performance Was “Genius”

Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter recently made headlines after their unforgettable performance at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans during The Eras Tour in October 2024. Fans are now getting an inside look at the collaboration thanks to the latest episodes of Swift’s Disney+ docuseries, The End of an Era.

Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter’s Epic Stage Collaboration

In episode 4 of The End of an Era, viewers see Taylor Swift, 36, rehearsing with rising pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter for a special mash-up performance. The setlist included Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) hit “Espresso” alongside Carpenter’s singles “Is It Over Now?” and “Please Please Please.” The performance, held at the iconic Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, was a highlight of the 2024 tour.

Backstage, Carpenter candidly described experiencing what she called a “big blonde moment” before stepping on stage. The singer admitted that the clever musical choices Swift made didn’t fully click until she was en route to the venue.

“Okay, I felt like a real big idiot, ‘cause the first time you sent me the first version, which was so genius, it didn’t process that the ‘takeout coffee’ line really fits with ‘Espresso’ until I literally was in the car on the way here,” Carpenter said. “I was like, ‘She’s so smart.’ But yeah, that was a big blonde moment for me. It took me a day.”

Swift, ever the perfectionist, responded with praise:

“No, but what are the chances it has the same rhythm and is in the same key?”

This behind-the-scenes glimpse shows the meticulous planning and musical genius behind the tour’s most talked-about performances.
