The Bauchi State government has announced temporary road closures and diversions in the state capital ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s visit, citing security and traffic management concerns.
President Tinubu is scheduled to arrive in Bauchi on Saturday to pay his respects to the family and followers of the late renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who passed away on November 26, 2025, at the age of 98.
The planned road closures were disclosed in a statement on Friday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado. According to the statement, major routes leading to the Sheikh’s mosque and other strategic locations within the metropolis will be closed or diverted between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday.
“These measures are purely for safety and effective traffic management during the President’s visit,” the statement read. Residents were urged to plan their movements accordingly, obey traffic instructions, avoid restricted areas during the specified period, and cooperate fully with security agencies deployed across the state.
Gidado also appealed to residents to remain peaceful and conduct themselves responsibly throughout the visit. He stressed that the government remains committed to maintaining order while honouring the legacy of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, whose teachings had a profound impact on Bauchi State, Nigeria, and the wider Muslim community.
Meanwhile, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced that Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday for a three-state visit to Borno, Bauchi, and Lagos states.
