Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested 39-year-old Shodunke Yetunde Simbiat in Surulere, Lagos, following the recovery of 23.5 kilograms of cocaine concealed in her home.
The arrest is part of ongoing investigations into a trans-border drug trafficking syndicate previously uncovered in Lagos and Ogun states. According to the NDLEA, months of intelligence gathering and surveillance led officers to the suspect’s residence at 31 Onasanya Street, Surulere, where she was apprehended on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
A search of the property revealed the cocaine hidden in a black suitcase in her children’s room. The street value of the drugs is estimated at over N5 billion. The suspect reportedly admitted ownership of the consignment.
The NDLEA has stated that investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
