The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has condemned politicians who are defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing their actions as shameless and disrespectful to the electorate.
Speaking on Sunrise Daily, a programme on Channels Television, CUPP Secretary-General Peter Ameh argued that the defectors show a lack of moral integrity.
“Those defecting to the APC don’t have shame and respect for the electorate. You contested against this party on election day, campaigned on your party’s manifesto, and now you are moving to another party. This is about morality,” Ameh said.
He emphasized that voters made their choice in 2023, but the absence of structures to defend their decision left the process incomplete. Ameh urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and determined in shaping their political future.
“We hope that one day the people will wake up and determine their own future. They did it in 2023, but there were no structures to defend it. They need to go to the next level and say we do it again. We are not giving up because this country deserves better,” he added.
