NCAA Warns Airlines Over Flight Delays, Passenger Neglect

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued a stern warning to domestic airlines over persistent flight delays and inadequate passenger care.

In a statement posted on X, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, stressed that continued violations would attract sanctions.

The warning followed an enforcement visit to Abuja operations of Xejet, Rano Air, and United Nigeria Airlines, during which officials observed that airlines were failing to provide timely information to passengers and were neglecting to offer light refreshments after delays exceeding two hours.

Achimugu described these practices as unacceptable, particularly during the peak December travel period, emphasizing that airlines must adhere strictly to consumer protection provisions.

He added that the NCAA’s ultimatum applies to all domestic operators, not just the three inspected, and forms part of ongoing efforts to safeguard passenger rights and ensure compliance with industry standards.
