Several women who participated in a recent protest opposing Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s defection from the PDP to the APC have admitted they were misled and acted out of ignorance.
Speaking to Daily Post on condition of anonymity, the women said the state Women’s Wing, led by Mrs. Elizabeth Yerse, exploited their lack of political knowledge to orchestrate the protest. Many claimed they received only small sums of money—ranging from N1,000 to N2,000—while organisers allegedly collected millions from the party.
One participant lamented: “We thought we were protesting for the best interest of the APC, but they used us to enrich themselves.” Another said: “I locked up my shop to join the protest, believing it was for a good cause, but at the end, I got only N1,000, not even enough for my way back home.”
The women collectively expressed regret, apologizing to Governor Mutfwang and criticizing the organisers for exploiting their fellow women for personal gain.
