Kwankwaso Blames FG for Insecurity, Promises Military Boost if Elected

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and 2023 NNPP presidential candidate, has criticized the Tinubu administration for lacking political will to address insecurity in Nigeria. Speaking in Kano on Tuesday during the launch of the state’s 2,000-strong Neighborhood Security Network, Kwankwaso urged President Tinubu to act decisively as Commander-in-Chief.

He praised the Nigerian military for its global contributions in peacekeeping missions such as Darfur and Liberia but lamented that insufficient government support has hindered their effectiveness. “Many Nigerians are being killed innocently, and their killers go unpunished. The government must apologize for its laxity,” he said.

Kwankwaso emphasized that during his tenure as Defense Minister, he witnessed the military’s courage and effectiveness, which he believes can be restored with proper political will and resources. He further pledged that, if elected president in 2027, he would recruit over one million military personnel.

He also called on the federal government to integrate initiatives like Kano’s Neighborhood Security Network into the military structure to boost morale and strengthen the fight against insecurity.
