Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, has reflected on the early stages of her career.
The “Essence” hitmaker admitted to being quite naive when she first started out.
In an interview with Glamour Magazine Germany, Tems shared that it took her time to figure out how to navigate the music industry in a healthy way.
“I won’t lie, I was very naive at the beginning of my career – I just wanted to create good art. It took me time to learn how to approach the music business in a positive way,” she revealed.
Tems also credited her management and family for keeping her grounded, particularly her mother and brother. “My management and my family, especially my mom and brother, are the ones who really keep me grounded,” she said.
