Kata Hay, 38, a former contestant on The Voice, was arrested in Oklahoma last week on a vehicular homicide warrant issued in Tennessee, authorities confirmed.
Arrest Details
Hay, whose legal name is Kata Huddleston, was booked into the Osage County Jail on December 17, 2025, according to jail records obtained by PEOPLE. She faces charges as a fugitive from justice and is being held pending extradition back to Davidson County, Tennessee.
The Goodlettsville Police Department posted a photo of Hay on social media on December 16, alerting the public that she had outstanding warrants “for vehicular homicide in connection with a motor vehicle crash” in Davidson County. Police said tips from citizens helped locate and arrest her in Oklahoma.
“Thanks to a multitude of citizens who called in with tips as to [her] location, Kata Hay was taken into custody safely,” the department said.
The Voice Career
Hay first gained national attention when she competed on Season 11 of The Voice in 2016 as part of Team Christina Aguilera. During her blind audition, she sang Gretchen Wilson’s “Redneck Woman” and shared a playful kiss with Aguilera after revealing the singer was her first “girl crush.”
Hay advanced to the Top 20 before being eliminated. Her memorable audition remains one of the standout moments from the season.
Legal History
This is not Hay’s first run-in with the law. In 2022, she was arrested in Sumner County, Tennessee, on allegations of sexual contact with a minor. She later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six months in jail. At the time, Hay was reportedly on probation stemming from a 2017 DUI charge.
Next Steps
Authorities in Oklahoma confirmed that Hay will be extradited to Davidson County to face the vehicular homicide charges. She has not responded to requests for comment.
