The Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as well-structured and forward-looking energy reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, calling on Nigerians to support the administration to ensure their successful execution.

In his New Year message, Dr. Abdullahi said the reforms have continued to deliver positive outcomes for Nigerians while repositioning the country on a sustainable development path. According to him, President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is designed to restore Nigeria’s status as an attractive destination for both local and foreign investors.

He noted that the agenda has gradually become a rallying point for citizens seeking national growth and improved living standards, adding that the President’s focus on renewable and sustainable energy has led to the revitalisation of the Energy Commission of Nigeria.

Dr. Abdullahi explained that the ECN, which had previously suffered neglect, has been revived due to President Tinubu’s commitment to expanding access to clean and reliable energy nationwide.

“President Tinubu’s well-thought-out plans to ensure access to renewable and sustainable energy for Nigerians have brought about the reawakening of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, which had been pushed to a near comatose state,” he said.

He further stated that the President’s strong belief in his policies has driven wide-ranging reforms and innovative initiatives across the energy sector, aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s energy transition.

According to him, the reforms are designed to unlock economic growth, promote sustainable development, and significantly improve energy access across the country.

Dr. Abdullahi also highlighted President Tinubu’s role as Chairman of the ECN, noting that the President remains deeply committed to advancing the Energy Transition Plan, a key pillar of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Describing the reforms as a reflection of Nigeria’s global aspirations, he said the administration’s approach demonstrates the country’s ambition to become a leader in sustainable energy solutions while balancing economic growth and environmental responsibility.

He, however, urged Nigerians to rally behind the President, stressing that public support is crucial for the full realisation of the energy reforms.

“For these laudable initiatives to be fully achieved, Nigerians must give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu their total support to see them through,” he said.
