The Kebbi State Government has announced that all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state will reopen for the second term of the 2025/2026 academic session on Monday, January 5, 2026.
The directive, jointly issued by Isah Ibrahim, Public Relations Officer of the Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board, and Aliyu Bagarawa, Deputy Director (Academics) of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, follows the earlier closure of schools after the abduction of 25 students from Government Day Secondary School, Maga, in Zuru LGA.
The government said the reopening reflects its commitment to maintaining a stable academic calendar and ensuring uninterrupted learning. School administrators, teachers, parents, and students were urged to comply strictly with the directive and make necessary preparations for a smooth resumption.
According to the circular, the first week of the second term will be dedicated to completing outstanding first-term examinations, with regular classroom teaching scheduled to begin on Monday, January 12, 2026.
The state government also warned that monitoring teams would be deployed to ensure adherence to the resumption timetable and examination schedule. Education stakeholders have welcomed the move, calling it timely and vital for sustaining academic discipline and improving learning outcomes.
