Liverpool Agree Deal to Sign Swedish Midfielder Alice Bergstrom

Liverpool Women have reached an agreement with Swedish side BK Häcken to sign 22-year-old midfielder Alice Bergstrom for an undisclosed fee, in a move aimed at strengthening their squad in the Women’s Super League.

Bergstrom, a Sweden Under-23 international, enjoyed a standout season in the Damallsvenskan with Häcken, winning the league title in November. She scored three goals and provided eight assists in 25 appearances out of the 26 league matches last season, playing a key role in Häcken’s championship campaign.

Versatile Midfielder Joins Liverpool

Bergstrom, who can operate both as a right-sided winger and as a full-back, brings versatility to a Liverpool squad struggling at the bottom of the WSL table. Liverpool have yet to record a win this season, with eight losses and three draws so far, making Bergstrom’s arrival a potentially transformative signing.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Bergstrom expressed her excitement about the move:

“I’m really excited. I’ve been waiting a long time, so it’s nice to be here. I’m really excited to get started and it’s going to be a good year.”

International Experience

Bergstrom received her first senior call-up to the Sweden national team in November for the Nations League bronze medal game against France, highlighting her rising profile on the international stage. Prior to joining Häcken in 2024, she spent two seasons at Djurgårdens IF, gaining valuable experience in Sweden’s top-flight women’s football.

Transfer Details

The deal is currently subject to international clearance and a work permit, with Liverpool eager to integrate Bergstrom quickly as they aim to improve their fortunes in the Women’s Super League.

With her combination of attacking flair, defensive work rate, and experience in winning a league title, Bergstrom could play a key role in helping Liverpool climb the table and secure their first WSL victory of the season.
