Dilbert Creator Scott Adams Reveals Grim Prostate Cancer Prognosis: “Essentially Zero” Chance of Recovery

Scott Adams, the cartoonist and author best known for creating the comic strip Dilbert, has shared a somber update regarding his prostate cancer diagnosis. During a livestream of his podcast Real Coffee with Scott Adams on January 1, 2026, Adams, 68, revealed that his chances of recovery are “essentially zero,” describing his situation as “all bad news.”

Adams’ Health Update

In the livestream, Adams detailed that he had recently spoken with his radiologist and received a bleak prognosis. He said:

“The odds of me recovering are essentially zero. I’ll give you any updates if that changes, but it won’t.”

The cartoonist also disclosed that he is experiencing ongoing heart failure and has lost sensation in his legs. Despite these challenges, Adams emphasized that he is not in pain and intends to continue his podcast for as long as it “makes sense,” noting that hosting it keeps him engaged and busy.

“January will likely be a month of transition, one way or the other,” Adams said.

He also expressed interest in continuing to create new comics, despite his declining health, and maintains an active engagement with current events.

Connection to Joe Biden’s Diagnosis

Adams first publicly disclosed his aggressive prostate cancer diagnosis in May 2025, coincidentally one day after former President Joe Biden revealed he had the same type of cancer. Adams explained that he shared his news partly to draw attention away from his own diagnosis while expressing sympathy for Biden.

At the time, Adams revealed that the cancer had spread to his bones and that he had only months to live. He described the cancer as aggressive, noting similarities to the former president’s condition.

Scott Adams’ Career and Controversies

Scott Adams created Dilbert in 1989, a comic strip widely praised for satirizing office culture. The comic earned him acclaim over decades, but Adams has also been a controversial figure. In 2023, hundreds of newspapers dropped Dilbert following comments he made on his podcast about race, which he later defended.

Adams is also known for his outspoken political views. He has publicly supported former President Donald Trump and has been critical of Joe Biden in the past, though he expressed sympathy toward Biden after learning they shared the same diagnosis.

Personal Reflections

Despite his serious health challenges, Adams remains reflective and engaged with the world around him. He acknowledged that his current priorities are overshadowed by larger issues but emphasized his continued interest in the news, politics, and creative work.

“I have much bigger problems than the stuff I’m talking about in the news,” he said, noting that he will try to make new comics and continue his podcast for as long as possible.
