The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed reports claiming it has released the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election.

In a statement, Adedayo Oketola, Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman, described such information as false and misleading, stressing that the Commission has not issued any timetable outside the legal framework.

Oketola cited Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act, 2022, which requires INEC to publish a Notice of Election not later than 360 days before a general election, emphasizing that any premature timetable is unauthorised.

INEC assured Nigerians that the official timetable will be released in due course through verified Commission channels and urged the public and media to rely only on official sources for accurate updates.
