Abia Governor’s Wife Welcomes First Baby of 2026

Mrs. Priscilla Otti, wife of the Abia State governor, has welcomed the first baby of 2026 at Akirika Ukwu Primary Healthcare Centre in Ukwa West LGA.

The newborn, Miss Oluebubechi Nwatuobi Excessgrace, arrived at exactly 12:43 a.m. on January 1, weighing 3 kg. The First Lady named her “Ihuoma”, expressing hope that she will grow in peace, grace, and favour.

To celebrate the historic birth, Mrs. Otti presented the mother and child with gifts, including rice, milk, groundnut oil, sanitary items, and a ₦1 million cash donation to support postnatal care and nutrition.

Describing the event as a joyful start to the new year, she highlighted it as a reflection of the steady improvement and functionality of Abia State’s primary healthcare system. She encouraged expectant and nursing mothers to trust government health facilities.

Health Commissioner Professor Enoch Uche praised Mrs. Otti for her ongoing support, noting her contributions to strengthening healthcare delivery in the state.
