Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has sparked widespread reactions on social media after making an emotional and empowering statement about single motherhood, success, and faith.
Speaking candidly, the actress dismissed long-held stereotypes about single mothers, stressing that fulfillment, stable children, and personal growth—not marital status—are the true measures of success.
Reflecting on her journey, Iyabo Ojo said she raised her children alone at a young age amid confusion, exhaustion, and uncertainty. Despite the challenges, she said her life turned out better than expected, crediting her progress to faith in God, resilience, and perseverance.
“There’s confusion in their midst. I’m the president-general of single mothers because my daughter has succeeded, my son has succeeded, and my life is better. When you’re raising children at a young age, you almost run mad. If anyone had told me I’d become a landlady in Lekki, I would have said it was a lie. It wasn’t me, it was God,” she said.
Iyabo Ojo also shared her views on relationships, noting that both men and women make choices in marriage. She added that she holds deep admiration for fathers who remain actively involved in their children’s lives.
“Na man go leave you, na man go marry you. Na woman go leave you, na woman go marry you. Put your faith in God and see what He will do for you. I easily fall in love with fathers that take care of their children,” she added.
Her remarks have continued to generate mixed reactions online, with some praising her honesty and others offering criticism, further fueling discussions about marriage, parenting, and societal expectations.
