Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, has reached a historic milestone, becoming the first Hindi film to cross ₹800 crore at the Indian box office within just 30 days of its release. Since hitting theatres on December 5, the film has not only dominated screens nationwide but has continued to set new benchmarks for Hindi cinema in terms of box office collections and audience reception.
Breaking Records in 30 Days
According to Jio Studios, the producers of Dhurandhar, the film collected ₹806.80 crore domestically in its first month. Its week-by-week performance reflects both strong word-of-mouth and sustained audience interest:
- Week 1: ₹218 crore net
- Week 2: ₹261.5 crore net
- Week 3: ₹188.3 crore net
- Week 4: ₹115.7 crore net
In addition to these weekly numbers, Dhurandhar earned ₹9.70 crore on Saturday and ₹12.60 crore on Sunday, pushing its domestic total past the ₹800 crore mark. The film’s worldwide total currently stands at ₹1,186.25 crore, further cementing its status as one of the biggest Bollywood blockbusters of the decade.
The production house celebrated the achievement, writing, “Dhurandhar routine: Wake up. Make Records. Repeat. A NEW ALL-TIME RECORD FOR HINDI CINEMA!” The milestone is particularly significant because it makes Dhurandhar the first Hindi-language film to cross ₹800 crore domestically.
Comparisons with Other Blockbusters
Dhurandhar’s achievement puts it on track to challenge Allu Arjun and Sukumar’s 2024 Telugu blockbuster Pushpa 2: The Rule, which grossed ₹1,234.1 crore worldwide, including ₹812.14 crore from the Hindi-speaking market. Other notable high-grossing Hindi films include Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan (2023), which earned ₹640 crore in India, and Vicky Kaushal’s 2025 action film Chhaava, which made ₹600 crore domestically.
While Pushpa 2 remains the benchmark for overall domestic net collections, Dhurandhar’s record as the first Hindi film to cross ₹800 crore in India marks a new era for Hindi cinema, showcasing the increasing appetite for high-quality, large-scale, and engaging storytelling among domestic audiences.
