Former Big Brother Naija star and actor Pere Egbi has defended Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen following a heated exchange with teammate Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) last-16 match.
The incident sparked calls from some fans for Lookman to be dropped from the team, claiming Osimhen was at fault. Pere criticized these calls, describing them as “clueless” and warning that removing Osimhen would weaken Nigeria’s chances in the tournament.
He tweeted:
“Are people so clueless to actually demand that Osimhen be dropped? Really???? Come on. That’s a reach! Dem drop am now, una get im replacement anywhere????? Wf!!! Na we wan use our hand commot ourself from this AFCON.”
Pere also addressed a viral claim that Osimhen’s alleged “bad attitude” prevented Chelsea from signing him, pointing out that the striker reportedly turned down the club’s offer. He warned that public criticism could affect players’ performances.
The debate has divided fans online, with some questioning Osimhen’s consistency and temperament, while others praised his contributions to the national team.
