The Venezuela Solidarity Campaign in Nigeria (VSCN) has reaffirmed support for the Venezuelan government and condemned what it describes as U.S.-led threats of military and economic intervention.
In a joint statement, the coalition also demanded the immediate release of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, whom the group claims were illegally abducted by the Trump administration—a claim that is currently unverified.
Key points from the statement:
- The U.S. is accused of masking imperial ambitions behind claims of fighting drugs and arms smuggling.
- Venezuela’s oil reserves and strategic lands are alleged to be the true target of intervention.
- VSCN warned that foreign attempts to impose leadership on Venezuela violate international law and set a dangerous precedent for other Global South nations, including Nigeria.
- The coalition also condemned threats of invasion against Greenland, Iran, and Nigeria, claiming resource exploitation motives.
- Nigerians are called on to organize peaceful marches and mass actions against imperialism and defend national sovereignty.
- The group criticized unnamed Nigerian political actors allegedly cooperating with U.S. interests to destabilize Nigeria internally.
