Explosive Device Found in Niger State Community Days After Bandit Attack Kills 40

Just days after gunmen killed more than 40 people in Kasuwar Daji, Niger State, locals have discovered an unexploded device suspected to be a missile in Ganaru, Magama Local Government Area.

Reports indicate that the device may be a Tomahawk missile warhead, reportedly of U.S. origin, sparking fresh concerns about safety in the community. Residents are especially alarmed, as unexploded military ordnance could be mistaken for scrap metal and handled unknowingly, risking detonation.

“Anyone considering repurposing the metal should be aware that it contains a powerful 600-pound high-explosive warhead,” a source warned.

The discovery comes three days after the Kasuwar Daji market massacre, during which gunmen killed over 40 residents, burnt a Mobile Police checkpoint, and ransacked homes. The assault on the checkpoint was reportedly designed to delay security response, leaving locals vulnerable.

Local authorities have urged residents to report any suspicious objects immediately and avoid handling unexploded devices due to the extreme danger.
