Tantita Security Services, a key player in securing Nigeria’s vital oil and gas installations, has enhanced its surveillance capabilities by contracting Textron Systems, a high-tech security company, to deliver cutting-edge equipment. As part of the contract signed on December 29, 2025, Tantita will receive three Aerosonde Mk. 4.7 vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) designed to significantly boost its security operations across Nigeria’s oil infrastructure.
The agreement underscores Tantita’s commitment to improving security for Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, which is essential to the nation’s economy. The Aerosonde Mk. 4.7 systems will be delivered in a fully ITAR-free configuration, making them easy to export internationally. These uncrewed aircraft will provide enhanced surveillance, ensuring the protection of critical infrastructure against threats.
Advanced Technology for Unmatched Surveillance
The Aerosonde Mk. 4.7 VTOL UAS is powered by Hybrid Quadrotor technology, allowing for vertical takeoff and landing, making it highly versatile and capable of operating in environments with limited runway space. This advanced technology enables Tantita to carry out efficient, round-the-clock surveillance, even in challenging conditions.
David Phillips, Senior Vice President of Air, Land, and Sea Systems at Textron, commented, “The Aerosonde Mk. 4.7 is a mature, highly reliable, and industry-proven autonomous solution that will transform Tantita’s ability to execute security operations. With this technology, Tantita will significantly strengthen its role in safeguarding Nigeria’s oil and gas infrastructure.”
Expanding Operational Capabilities
This acquisition is part of Tantita’s broader efforts to expand its operational capabilities. The deal also includes options for training and the potential addition of more drones to support the company’s growing security needs. The systems will build upon previous Foreign Military Sale (FMS) contracts, which have already proven successful in enhancing the country’s security infrastructure.
With over 700,000 flight hours logged globally, the Aerosonde UAS has earned a reputation for reliability and performance in some of the world’s most challenging environments. It is currently in use on over 10 U.S. Navy ships, showcasing its multi-mission capability with VTOL and fixed-wing configurations. This high-level performance will empower Tantita to tackle the complexities of securing high-risk sectors such as oil and gas.
Global Impact and Future Potential
The addition of these uncrewed aircraft systems will play a crucial role in safeguarding Nigeria’s energy resources, ensuring national security, and supporting the broader goals of economic stability and growth. With these advancements, Tantita is positioning itself at the forefront of security technology in the region, ready to face emerging challenges with cutting-edge solutions.
