The Divine Hope Orphanage and Less Privileged Home in Kagini, Abuja, has been sealed by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) authorities as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged unlawful activities at the facility.
The closure, carried out by the FCT Women Affairs Secretariat, is intended to ensure that the orphanage complies with child welfare regulations and to address concerns raised regarding its operations. Officials revealed that multiple attempts had been made to reach the operator of the home for cooperation, but these efforts were unsuccessful.
In an official announcement, the authorities confirmed the closure, saying, “From the residents of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Divine Hope Orphanage and Less Privileged Home in Kagini, Abuja F.C.T. is hereby officially sealed.” They also emphasized that the facility remains under scrutiny as part of the investigation.
According to the authorities, the operator of the orphanage had been invited several times to engage in the investigation but had refused to cooperate, with officials stating, “We have invited her several times. She refused to turn up.”
The authorities urged residents of the FCT or anyone who knows the operator’s whereabouts to assist in locating her so the investigation can be properly completed. They requested that she report to the Child Development Department at the FCT Women Affairs Secretariat for further processing of the inquiry.
