Entrepreneur Blord has stirred widespread debate on social media after revealing why the majority of his workforce is made up of women and disclosing the scale of his company’s salary expenses.
Speaking during a recent appearance, Blord disclosed that his company paid out ₦1.1 billion in staff salaries in 2025, averaging about ₦90 million monthly, with much of the financial handling overseen by female employees.
According to him, his preference for hiring women is influenced by what he described as the heavier societal pressures placed on men, which he believes can affect workplace behaviour, especially when large sums of money are involved.
Blord argued that women generally face fewer of these pressures, making them, in his view, more likely to act with integrity when entrusted with significant financial responsibilities. While acknowledging that women can also engage in misconduct, he claimed such cases are less common in his experience.
“When men handle millions of naira in an organisation without stealing, it’s often because they’re already content with what they have,” he said, adding that societal expectations tend to push men harder than women.
His remarks quickly generated mixed reactions online. While some social media users supported his views and defended his right to run his business as he sees fit, others criticised the comments as biased, sexist, or self-promotional. The debate has since continued to trend across various platforms.
