IBB University Cracks Down on Illegal Sale of Hostel Spaces, Warns of Sanctions

Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBUL) has issued a stern warning against the unauthorised sale of hostel accommodations, noting that some individuals and groups have been charging students above official rates.

The university said the practice typically targets freshers at the start of sessions, when demand for hostel spaces is highest.

Alhaji Baba Akote, Deputy Registrar of Information, described the issue in a statement:

“The Management of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, has noted with dismay a disturbing development by some individuals and groups who specialize in short-changing unsuspecting students to secure hostel accommodation for them.”

The university has directed the Student Affairs Division to investigate and identify those involved.

“Anyone caught, both the seller and the buyer, will face the wrath of University Management, as stringent measures are to be taken against them,” Akote warned.

IBBUL stressed that such activities are prohibited and contravene university regulations, emphasizing its commitment to protecting students and ensuring fair access to campus accommodation.
