Lagos State schools are set to resume for the second term on January 12, 2026, and the Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, has urged school authorities to strictly adhere to public health guidelines and safety protocols.
Alli-Balogun made the call in a statement issued by Mr. Kayode Sutton, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). He noted that government officials have been deployed across the state to inspect schools and ensure compliance with established safety standards.
The commissioner also commended teachers, parents, and guardians for their cooperation in supporting the smooth functioning of the state’s education sector. “All should make sure that their wards are adequately prepared for the resumption of academic activities for the new term,” he added.
The resumption applies to all public and private primary and secondary schools, as well as government technical colleges across Lagos State. Academic and administrative activities are expected to commence immediately upon reopening, in line with the approved Lagos State Schools calendar for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Alli-Balogun reiterated the state government’s commitment to providing a safe and conducive learning environment for pupils and students.
