Jenny McCarthy Declares She’ll Never Return to ‘The View’: “Over My Dead Body”

Jenny McCarthy, the actress, model, and television personality, recently made headlines with a candid revelation about her experience on the daytime talk show The View. During a guest appearance on The Katie Miller Podcast on January 6, 2026, McCarthy reflected on her short-lived stint as a co-host in 2013 and 2014 (Season 17) and made it clear she has no plans to return to the show.

McCarthy’s Brief but Tumultuous Time on ‘The View’

McCarthy was brought onto The View with the expectation that she would provide “light, fluffy, and fun” commentary, discussing entertainment topics such as Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor. However, her tenure quickly became challenging as the show’s format demanded political discussions that McCarthy admitted she wasn’t prepared for at the time.

“Well, that lasted a week. That lasted a whole week,” McCarthy recalled. “Back then, I didn’t consider myself to be a political person, which is why I thought I was perfect for the job. After a week, when they said they wanted to get political, I was like, ‘Oh my God, what am I going to do?'”

She shared a memorable moment in which the panel discussed a hostage situation and debated whether the U.S. government should pay the ransom—a conversation far outside her comfort zone. “I just know who won Dancing with the Stars,” she joked, reflecting on how overwhelming that first year on the show was.

Why McCarthy Says She’ll Never Return

Over a decade later, McCarthy remains firm in her decision not to return to The View. She stated that although she has been invited for reunion episodes, she would never step foot back on the show.

“Over my dead body would I ever step foot in that place,” she said. While she acknowledges that her perspective has shifted and she is “much more political” now, she emphasized that her time on The View was not enjoyable.

Reflecting on The View’s Original Intent

McCarthy explained that the show initially wanted a personality who could provide lighthearted commentary. However, the unexpected push into political discourse quickly changed the dynamics. She also described the pressures and expectations of the daytime talk show environment, where co-hosts must navigate complex social and political topics while maintaining on-screen chemistry.

“They said it was too polarizing back then,” McCarthy recalled, noting that the show’s format has evolved significantly since her brief tenure.

Jenny McCarthy’s Career Beyond The View

Despite her rocky experience on The View, McCarthy has continued to thrive in television, film, and entrepreneurial ventures. She recently promoted her beauty line, Formless Beauty, and remains an active media personality with a loyal fanbase. Her outspoken nature and candid reflections continue to resonate with audiences.

In her own words, McCarthy acknowledged her growth since her time on the show, noting that while she has become more politically aware, her past experiences on The View are memories she does not wish to revisit.
