Delhi Traffic Police has announced traffic restrictions on New Rohtak Road that will remain in effect until January 31, 2026, due to ongoing underground cabling work being carried out by Tata Power – Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL). The maintenance and upgradation work has occupied two lanes along the route, resulting in slow-moving traffic and congestion.
Affected Stretch
The traffic curbs will impact the stretch from Kamal T-Point to Liberty Cinema, heading towards Paharganj. Motorists are advised to avoid this area to prevent delays.
Alternative Routes and Diversions
To ease movement, the Delhi Traffic Police has suggested alternative routes:
- Commuters heading towards Paharganj / New Delhi:
Take a left from Kamal T-Point towards Sarai Rohilla, then a right on Veer Banda Bairagi Marg via Rani Jhansi Road. - Commuters from Shastri Nagar Chowk towards Liberty Cinema:
Avoid Swami Narayan Marg and instead use Rani Jhansi Road.
Safety and Advisory
Traffic personnel have been deployed at key intersections to manage vehicular flow. The Delhi Traffic Police urged commuters to:
- Plan journeys in advance
- Remain patient amid congestion
- Follow instructions from traffic officials
Context
The advisory comes shortly after another major traffic disruption in Delhi. On the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway, congestion was reported following the closure of the Hero Honda Chowk underpass after stones fell from the structure’s roof, causing damage to vehicles.
Motorists using New Rohtak Road are advised to take note of the restrictions and diversions to minimize travel delays until the completion of the TPDDL cabling work.
