“Even My Signees Outshine Him” – Portable Blasts Mavo Over Auto-Tune Use

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has publicly criticised fellow artiste Mavo, describing him as untalented and overly dependent on auto-tune.

Portable made the remarks in a video shared on his social media platforms, where he took aim at the Shakabulizzy crooner’s musical abilities. The Zazu hitmaker accused Mavo of relying heavily on studio effects rather than raw talent.

Using a clip from Mavo’s recent live-band performance, Portable argued that the performance exposed what he described as a lack of musical skill. He claimed that Mavo struggled to deliver vocally without auto-tune support.

The singer went further to boast that artistes signed to his own label are more talented than Mavo, insisting that even his protégés outperform him in live settings.

“You rely too much on auto-tune,” Portable said. “I see celebrities associating with you and collaborating, but when you went to perform with a live band, it showed everything. Even my signees sing better than you.”

He also criticised the quality of the performance, calling it “shambolic,” and questioned why established stars continue to promote what he termed “overhyped” artistes while overlooking emerging talents.

Portable’s comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with fans divided over his blunt assessment of Mavo’s music and performance skills.
