A fatal road accident on the Jama’are–Azare section of the Kano–Maiduguri Expressway has claimed the lives of nine passengers and left 10 others injured, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Bauchi State confirmed.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:20 am on Friday, involving a commercial bus with registration number KTG 181 ZZ transporting 19 passengers from Gombe to Kano.
Sector Commander CC Apaji Danladi Boyi explained that preliminary reports indicate the accident was caused by over-speeding, driver fatigue, and loss of vehicle control. Emergency personnel quickly evacuated the injured to the Federal Medical Centre, Azare, while the deceased were taken to the morgue, awaiting identification by relatives.
Boyi also reminded motorists to observe traffic rules, especially during this period of heavy post-holiday travel. He noted that FRSC’s Operation Zero Special Patrol continues to monitor major roads to reduce accidents.
