Fayose Blames Atiku, Tambuwal for PDP’s Internal Collapse

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has accused PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, and former national chairman Iyorchia Ayu of weakening the party, describing their decisions ahead of the 2023 elections as a major factor in its divisions.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Fayose said, “Atiku destroyed the PDP, Tambuwal destroyed the PDP, and Ayu destroyed it. Politics is not fair; life itself is not balanced.”

Fayose defended his support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 election, insisting it was a matter of principle rather than political ambition, and stressed he remains outside the APC.

On Rivers State politics, he recalled warning caution during Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s inauguration to avoid a fallout with Minister Nyesom Wike, highlighting ongoing tensions within the party.

The PDP has faced persistent internal crises since the 2022 primaries, fueled by leadership disputes and defections, raising concerns about its effectiveness as a major opposition party.
