Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat from January 10 to 12, 2026, during which he will participate in religious, infrastructural, and diplomatic engagements. The visit includes participating in mantra chanting at the historic Somnath temple, inaugurating Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro, and holding bilateral discussions with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Day 1: Somnath Temple – Spiritual Start
PM Modi will arrive in Somnath on January 10 at around 8 pm. His evening itinerary begins with Omkar Mantra chanting at the Somnath temple, followed by a drone light show organized as part of the Somnath Swabhiman Parvcelebrations. The Parv, being observed from January 8 to 11, commemorates 1,000 years since Mahmud of Ghazni’s invasion of the Somnath temple in 1026, highlighting the temple’s historical and spiritual significance.
On social media, PM Modi referred to the celebrations as a “powerful symbol of our spiritual tradition”, reaffirming the blend of cultural pride and historical reflection that the Parv represents.
Day 2: Shaurya Yatra, Rajkot Engagements, Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2
On January 11, the Prime Minister will participate in the Shaurya Yatra at 9:45 am, a ceremonial procession paying homage to warriors who sacrificed their lives defending the Somnath temple. Following the Yatra, PM Modi will offer prayers at the temple at around 10:15 am. A public function marking the Somnath Swabhiman Parv will follow at 11 am, celebrating the resilience and spiritual heritage of the region.
Later in the day, PM Modi will travel to Rajkot to attend the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the Kutch and Saurashtra region. At 1:30 pm, he will inaugurate the trade show and exhibition, followed by the official launch of the conference at Marwadi University, where he is expected to address the audience and discuss regional development initiatives.
In the evening, PM Modi will proceed to Ahmedabad to inaugurate the remaining stretch of Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro. The inauguration is scheduled for 5:15 pm at Mahatma Mandir metro station. Phase 2 covers stations from Sector 10A to Mahatma Mandir, aiming to enhance urban mobility and connectivity across the city.
Day 3: Bilateral Engagements with German Chancellor
On January 12, PM Modi will meet German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Ahmedabad. Their joint visit will begin with a trip to the Sabarmati Ashram at 9:30 am, followed by participation in the International Kite Festival at the Sabarmati Riverfront, a symbolic event promoting cultural exchange.
Bilateral discussions will commence at 11:15 am at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, focusing on the India-Germany Strategic Partnership, which recently marked 25 years of collaboration. The talks are expected to cover economic, technological, and strategic cooperation, further strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
