Hosts Morocco secured a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals with a composed 2–0 victory over Cameroon in Friday’s quarter-final clash, keeping alive their dream of winning a first continental title in 50 years.
Brahim Diaz continued his remarkable run, scoring for the fifth consecutive match to give the Atlas Lions the lead. Ismael Saibari added a second goal as Morocco delivered an efficient, if measured, performance, converting two of their three shots on target.
Although Morocco dominated large portions of the game, clear-cut chances were scarce. Cameroon had a strong penalty appeal waved away in the second half following an apparent foul on Bryan Mbeumo. The Indomitable Lions struggled in the final third and failed to test Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou over the full 90 minutes.
Morocco will now face the winner of Algeria vs Nigeria in the semi-finals, scheduled to take place in Rabat on Wednesday.
