Police Invite Former Rivers SSG Tammy Danagogo Over Alleged Plot to Assassinate FCT Minister Wike

The Rivers State Police Command has summoned former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tammy Danagogo, for questioning over an alleged plot to assassinate Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

The invitation comes after the leak of a phone conversation involving Danagogo and a previously arrested suspect, Pastor Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, a Port Harcourt-based cleric.

Although the official police invitation did not specify the reason, an anonymous source told DAILY POST that the questioning is connected to the phone exchange in which the two men allegedly discussed recruiting Israeli nationals to carry out the assassination.

The source stated, “Danagogo and Pastor Tombari were discussing plans to involve Israelis in targeting the Minister. The leaked conversation is now with the police, and he has been invited for questioning.”

Police had earlier detained Gbeneol following the interception of the call. Reports indicate that during the conversation, the duo allegedly discussed securing financial support from Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, to fund the purported operation.

When contacted, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringo Koko, told DAILY POST, “Let me confirm, and I will get back to you.”

The investigation into the alleged plot remains ongoing, with authorities yet to release further details on Danagogo’s involvement or the status of the probe.
